About Purple

Throughout her 15 years of experience working with adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use challenges, Purple has developed and pursued her passion of:

  • Empowering people with mental health challenges to live a full life and
  • Supporting families and friends by providing relevant education throughout their recovery process.

Purple grew up in Hong Kong and worked in the marketing field for the first 10 years of her career. At the same time, she was also a youth leader at her church for 12 years and a dorm-parent for adolescents with emotional and mental health needs.

After moving to Canada, Purple received counselling and theology training from Tyndale University College & Seminary. She continues to incorporate her faith into her work as a freelance consultant, a speaker for various churches, and the coordinator of the Working Group for the Promotion of Mental Health in Faith Communities. Notable training sessions she has conducted include:

  • Family education and support for mental illness,
  • Parenting adolescent children,
  • Strengthening marriages for Christians, and
